Furry Family Friend FAQ

What vaccines does my pet need?

Vaccines and  regimens are based on your individual cat or dog’s needs and risk factors. We will recommend a schedule with the necessary immunizations at your appointment.

What is your policy about payments?

Payment in full is expected at the time of service unless you have made previous arrangements with our office. Please see Patient Information for payment details.

What age do you recommend having my pet spayed/neutered?

As a general rule, we recommend spaying or neutering your puppy from seven to twelve months of age. Kittens can be spayed or neutered from four to six months. These are general guidelines and we will be happy to discuss your unique pet with you.

Why does my dog need a heartworm test every year?

Heartworm is a parasite that is transmitted via mosquito bite. It can cause lung damage and liver failure if undetected. A regimen of heartworm pills is important to prevent the parasitic larvae from hatching and traveling through your dog’s system. With any medication, there is a chance that your dog will spit it out at some point. A quick, simple test at our office will ensure that heartworm is detected early in your dog’s system and can be treated before it causes any serious illnesses.

Why is wellness blood work important?

We all need to have wellness blood work at our annual physicals. This is also true of our pets! Wellness blood work will detect any early signs of illness or disease, even in pets that appear to be healthy. Early diagnosis and treatment means a longer, healthier life for your pet!
