Where are you from and where have you been?

I have always loved and cared deeply for animals, starting at a young age. However, my passion for animals came when I adopted my first dog, Charlie. He was severely abused for the first three years of his life and came to me extremely aggressive. With years of training, care, and love, I watched this fearful, aggressive dog grow into a loving and trusting animal. At the age of eight, he was diagnosed with a painless brain disease which caused loss of balance. He ended up in a wheelchair, which gave him five more years of a happy and exciting life!

When Charlie was diagnosed, we relocated from Boston, MA, to Charleston. I grew up in Boston, and my entire family is located there, but Charlie would not have been able to live his life in Boston because his wheelchair would not have been able to wheel in the snow. So we packed up and moved here with no human friends or family. Because of that move, my baby got five more years of a happy life!

Having Charlie as my best friend for ten years was the most rewarding thing I have experienced in my lifetime. Because of him, I knew that my calling was to help animals live their best lives and show their owners how to accomplish that. Since Charlie’s passing, I have adopted three dogs from the shelter: Benny, Dakota, and Ave Mae. They certainly keep me on my toes, and during my free time, I enjoy taking them to the beach or on hikes.
