Vet Experience:
Animal Medical Center of Boone (Boone, NC; GP clinic, vet assistant), Animal Emergency Clinic of the High Country (Boone, NC, vet assistant/reception), Lowcountry Pet Wellness (low-cost vax and basic care clinic, not full-service, vet assistant/non-credentialed technician), Charleston Animal Society (worked as surgical tech)
Animal Experience:
Charleston Animal Society (pretty much grew up in their humane education department,completed every education program they offer, a longtime volunteer in all areas, including adoption floor, ICU, surgery, etc.), Equestrian (been riding and around horses since I was very young, rode with Appalachian State Equestrian Team, throughout four years of college, competed in the Intercollegiate Dressage Association. I was the team captain during senior year.
Undergrad Major:
During undergrad, I majored in App State’s Interdisciplinary Self-Design Studies. This was a very intricate & detailed program in which I designed my own unique major titled Animal Health, Behavior, and the Human-Animal Bond.
Future Goals:
I will officially be attending veterinary school in the fall after having received multiple acceptances. I have not yet decided where I will be attending school (can update when I know for sure!)
Where are you from and where have you been?
I was born and raised in Charleston, SC. I went to college at Appalachian State University in Boone,NC, where I received my bachelor’s degree. Though I was born here on the coast, I love the mountains and do still miss my second home in the heart of the Appalachian region of NC.
After graduating, I returned home to Charleston to complete my veterinary school applications and prepare for my professional education. I am proud to advertise my acceptances to multiple veterinary schools I’ve received over the past month! My primary long-term goal is, after receiving my DVM, to join the ~100 board-certified Veterinary Behaviorists in the world.
Do you have pets?
I have a 7 lbs, 6yo Maltese mix named Bentley! He is the absolute love of my life, and I wouldn’ttrade him for anything.
What are your hobbies/interests?
I love to read thriller novels in my downtime. Other than that my kids keep me very busy with their activities! I am a hobby artist, mainly completing caricatures & comic book works. I frequently take commissions, but do not have an official website set up or anything! I am currently taking part in storyboarding & concept art creation for an indie game (I would give the title and developer name, but it is not ready for public announcement yet!).
I am a bit of a adrenaline junkie, and am actually a member of the American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE) association! I get around to many top park destinations across the globe for thrill-seekers, and currently have over 70 unique coaster credits to my name (each new coaster I take a ride on adds to my credits). My personal current contenders for “world’s best coaster” out of my repertoire are two that are tied for that first place: Wildcat’s Revenge at HersheyPark, and Velocicoaster at Universal Studios Islands of Adventure. Feel free to pick my brain about it; I know way too much about roller coasters, from popular manufacturers to the various styles and types.
